Missed doubles cost Oxfordshire dear as they went down 12-5 to Kent in the Inter-Counties Youth League at Rileys, in Cowley.
The match was closer than the scoreline suggests, with many of the games going to a deciding leg The under 18s, including two debutants, lost 8-1, their only success coming from man-of-the-match Ryan Bull with an 27.08 average.
The under 21 ladies lost 3-0, while the men recorded an excellent 4-1 win to restore a bit of pride.
Their victories came from Kevin Smith, Stephen Wright (20.24 average), Mark Burns (22.85), and man-of-the-match Dean Lockyer (25.37).
