The Cobras recorded their fifth win in seven matches on this lovely sunny April morning. The previous match between these two teams in November had been a tight affair, with Goring snatching a 4-3 win in the last minute. This match was a similar story. George Gompertz opened the score for the hosts who then came tantalisingly close to enhancing their lead. But Goring took the initiative in the second half, and powered into a 1-3 lead through two goals by Finn McNulty and another by Sam Alexander. In the second match, the visitors struck the post early on, but from then on it was the Cobras on the attack. Goring held on until half-time. In the final half, Felix Foot put the hosts back in the match with a stunning high shot. Shortly thereafter Cobras striker Rodolfo Niels-Gervasio scored the equaliser, and four minutes before the final whistle Alexander Jacobs made it 4-3. The Cobras also hit the post thereafter. Final score: Summertown Cobras 4-3 Goring Robins. Goal scorers: George Gompertz, Felix Foot, Rodolfo Niels-Gervasio and Alexander Jacobs for Summertown; Finn McNulty (2) and Sam Alexander for Goring.
