DRINKERS are being urged to have a pint in Oxford’s “overlooked” West End to raise cash for city hospice Sobell House.
Watering holes in the area near the railway station are holding a beer festival from April 13-17 to boost their profile and raise money for the Churchill Hospital hospice.
Taking part are The Honey Pot in Hollybush Row, The Jam Factory, The Duke’s Cut, and Cafe Coco in Park End Street, and The Oxford Retreat in Hythe Bridge Street.
Each venue will offer a variety of beers, food and live music at the event, sponsored by brewer Brakspear.
Honey Pot landlord Tom Rush said: “We are often a bit overlooked. Everyone knows about Jericho and the Cowley Road, but there is also a lot of potential at this end of Oxford.”
The event follows the success of Oxtoberfest which last year raised £1,000 for the hospice at West Oxford pubs.
Neil Hoggarth, chairman of the Oxford Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “It is really good to see the various West End pubs getting together.”
Entry to the festival will be wristband only. They cost £5 from wegottickets.com.
