A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with the burglary of a student house in Oxford.
Shaun Hewitt, of Clarks Bail Hostel, was arrested by officers on Monday evening, following the break-in of a house in Morrell Avenue at about 9.20pm.
He was remanded to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court today.
Det Sgt Andy Thompson, from the Oxford burglary team, said: “I would like to remind students to remain vigilant to this type of crime and ensure their homes are secure at all times.
“Student homes are attractive targets to criminals as they can often find multiple high-value items, such as laptops, iPods, stereos and TVs.
“Don’t make it easy for criminals. Keep your valuables out of sight of windows and your windows and doors locked at all times.
“If you want to have your house assessed, you can contact your neighbourhood policing team and they can arrange for someone to visit you and give you some tips on improving your home security.”
