I READ in the Oxford Mail (March 18), that a blue plaque had been unveiled on the house where John Brookes lived.
I wonder if, or when, they will put up some kind of recognition to the many thousands of young people who trained for war at the TA Centre which is now occupied by Oxford Brookes University student flats.
I would bet that John Brookes never dreamed of the avalanche of young people who now live in the Headington/Cowley area.
There are more of them than us now, and while I know many people welcome the extra finance they bring to the area, we don’t welcome the litter they create, mainly because they have not been taught how to manage it.
Perhaps that should be a part of the curriculum for all Freshers.
