Sir – My word — what a hornets’ nest of atheistic indignation my comments stirred up! (Letters, March 24).

I don’t wish to prolong the discussion, except to say that the reader who asked where the ‘aggressive atheists’ are, supplies an answer himself by mentioning Richard Dawkins, whose writings and television programmes are nothing if not an aggressive attack on religion.

But I’ve no need to try to defend God — He is quite capable of looking after Himself.
