The unidentified county council employee (On the Spot, Oxford Mail, March 15) is not the only one to have noticed a disparity between what the council says about the youth service and what it actually plans to do.
In Kidlington, we were assured that youth work in our community would continue. On closer examination, we discovered that the only sense in which it would continue is that staff from Bicester would visit Kidlington during office hours to deal with casework.
Locally-based youth workers would be withdrawn and local youth activities would close.
Furthermore, these cuts are being imposed despite the fact the county council is well aware that a dispersal order was needed in Kidlington High Street to deal with troublesome youths.
It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the county council is being less than honest about the real nature of the cuts it intends to impose.
Chris Robins, Kidlington parish councillor, Foxdown Close, Kidlington
