SUMMERTOWN residents can learn how to live a greener lifestyle at a low carbon fair tomorrow.
Low Carbon Oxford North (LCON) will give advice on how to eat more sustainable food, share lifts and cut fuel bills.
The group will also promote a new initiative through which people can invest in installing solar panels on community buildings such as church halls, sharing the revenue the power generates.
Outreach officer Tim Nicholson said: “If we are going to make any progress to cut carbon emissions, it has to be through communities working together to do something.
“Oxford is a unique place and has some amazing resources. We are trying to come up with models that make a big difference, work here and could be replicated elsewhere.
“We want to inspire people to invest in something that gives them a return, and the community a return.”
Since being founded last year, LCON has leafleted 8,000 homes and sent “street champions” to knock on the doors of their neighbours to ask if they are interested in saving energy.
The fair takes place at the North Oxford Association in Diamond Place from 7.15pm.
