IT IS wonderful news that the county’s libraries have been saved.
I’d like to congratulate the public for their magnificent campaign, which forced the county council to rethink their savage proposals. I’d also like to thank the Oxford Mail for its crucial support.
We all accept that savings have to be made in this global recession and I’m sure that people will now do what they can to support their local library.
It would be good to see libraries, as a result, becoming even more valued as a focal point for their communities.
I hope the Library Service will then build on this and do even more to reach out to all sections of the community.
Susanna Pressel, City Councillor for Jericho and Osney Ward, County Councillor for West Central Oxford Division, Rawlinson Road, Oxford
