THE dramatic rescue of the trapped Chilean miners is being recreated in Oxford at a new exhibition.
Modern Art Oxford is hosting the exhibition called Time Capsule, which features work by Slovak artist Roman Ondak.
One of the pieces is an exact replica of the rescue capsule, used to free miners after they were trapped 700 metres below ground for 69 days.
The second, a performance piece named Stampede, was created a week ago by filming 300 people gathered in one of the galleries at the Pembroke Street museum and explores the issues when people find themselves in overcrowded situations.
Sheridan Edward, office manager at Modern Art Oxford, aid: “The presentation of Ondak’s exact replica of the rescue capsule powerfully evokes a sense of isolation but also hope.
“The exhibition continues until May 20 and will last 69 days, the same length of time as the miners’ ordeal.”
