CANNABIS plants, left, were seized from an home after officers smelled the drug on the street.
Police raided the three-storey house in Cherwell Street, Oxford, yesterday morning and found 70 plants being grown on the top floor.
A 48-year-old man and 52-year-old woman were in police custody last night after being arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis.
Pc Ollie Jacques said police raided the house at 7.45am under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
He said: “Our suspicions were alerted after officers on patrol walked past the property and noticed there was a very strong smell of cannabis. We started gathering intelligence from that point, which led to us executing a warrant.”
Thames Valley Police spokesman Chris Kearney said: “Only the top floor was being used to grow the drug, and people were actually living in the house.
“Thames Valley Police is determined to stamp out this type of cultivation”
