Despite years of backpacking round the world, Damien Orman met the girl of his dreams in his local pub.

The Original Swan in Cowley, Oxford, was the place Damien met student Leah Joy and the pair have been together ever since.

He says he knew “she was the woman I wanted to marry”.

Romantic plans of a proposal at the Pyramids fell through with the collapse of an airline and a death in the family.

However, a proposal in Devon was perfect, Damien, of Cowley, said. “Due to the rising living costs and the fact Leah is halfway through a four-year degree our wedding seems like a pipe dream at the moment.”

Winning the competition would “be the perfect way to crown our love”.
