Laura Porter and Matthew Gordon have turned to poetry to convince voters that they should be deserved wedding day winners.

The pair penned: “The best Christmas present of all.

And completing this dream would be for us to wed.

At the beautiful Oxford Town Hall”.

The couple, from Witney, have been engaged since Matthew popped the question on Christmas Day.

After gaining his father-in-law-to-be’s permission in a very modern way – by text – he asked Laura to marry him.

Being nervous he muttered and spluttered and twisted his words, and also forgot to get down on one knee.
