Marcus the Shooting Star against Comets
Versatile midfielder Marcus Tranter scored four times as Kidlington ensured a third place finish in the Under 10 red league with a comfortable victory at Cutteslowe Park.
In an exceptional all-round display Tranter scored a couple either side of half time before dropping back to defence for much of the second half to help Kidlington keep their second clean sheet of the season with his strong tackling. Skipper Luca Sykes also bagged a goal in each half after good work from the midfield but they saved the best until last as Thomas Anderson ran onto Tranter's long-range pass and brilliantly volleyed it first time into the top corner of the net to leave the second game 7-0.
Kidlington won the first game 9-0, but they would easily have reached double figures had it not been for the outstanding efforts of Josh Chapman in the home goal, who made several fine stops. Nevertheless there were still hat-tricks for Callum Rolfe and Hamish Hall, two goals for Ben Owen ( the second of which was a great diving header ) and one for captain Ben Stewart.
Kidlington's defenders also played well ensuring their keepers were virtual spectators in both games.
The matches were played in an excellent spirit, and the Comets are to be congratulated for persevering well in two difficult games and never letting their heads drop.
