OXFORD United fans were quizzed on Saturday about the possibility of a standing area within the ground.
A group of U’s supporters has teamed up with Oxford Brookes University to canvas opinion on a safe standing zone at the Kassam Stadium.
A short questionnaire, which has the backing of chairman Kelvin Thomas will assess the potential for modern terracing, if and when a fourth side is added to the ground.
Fan David Cudd, part of the ‘Stand Up for Standing’ group, said: “Myself, Kelvin Thomas and (club secretary) Mick Brown and a couple of other supporters met back in October.
“We asked Kelvin if he would ever consider when we build a new fourth stand to have some form of safe standing.
“He said he liked the idea but told us to come back once we’ve got some more information.”
United do not own the stadium and currently rent it from former chairman Firoz Kassam.
Students from Brookes were at Saturday’s match with a small questionnaire for fans to complete to gauge interest in the plans.
Mr Cudd said safe standing already works well in Germany and at new English grounds such as Morecambe’s.
He added: “All this is academic at the moment.
“It’s for the future but we’ve got to think about these things.”
