A van driver died today in a crash that closed the M40.
The collision between a van and a mobile crane happened on the southbound carriageway between junction six near Watlington and junction five at Stokenchuch.
The southbound carriageway was closed by the crash and the northbound carriageway was later closed for a time to allow an air ambulance to land.
Police said the driver of the Iveco van was confirmed dead at the scene.
The crash happened shortly after 8am and the southbound carriageway was fully closed at 8.30am.
The Highways Agency said the southbound carriageway was likely to stay closed until mid-afternoon for investigation and recovery work.
Queues are already building up approaching the closure.
Southbound motorists are being told to divert via the A34 at junction nine, near Bicester, and the M4.
