WE don’t often see police officers in the street unless in a car (and always in pairs nowadays) but when they venture out, I think they ought to be looking around them and noticing what is going on.
I recently saw two police officers walking along, quite oblivious to their surroundings, having a good chat, gesticulating and looking not outwards but towards each other.
When cuts are mentioned, the police are quick to say it would be a disastrous blow to the services they offer. But I’m not so sure.
