A COUPLE from Oxford who met on delivery rounds will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Friday.
Colin and Rosemary Smith, 72 and 76, were married at Oxford Register Office in 1961.
Mr Smith said since then they have been inseparable, adding: “Whatever we do, where ever we go, we go together.”
He put the success of their marriage down to communication and honesty.
He said: “We’ve never kept any secrets from each other and we’ve always discussed things together.”
Mr Smith, born in Jericho, finished national service in 1959 and got a job as a delivery driver for the Co-op, and on his rounds he would pick up groceries from a store in Bicester.
He said each time he was accompanied by a young lady who would pick up the money.
He said: “We became very friendly and we eventually became an item, and then after less than two years we decided to get married.
“I think it really was love at first sight.”
The couple had two children, one of whom has died, and have four grandchildren, and a great grandson.
