FIREFIGHTERS fought to stop a shed fire spreading to a nearby home.
Six fire engines were sent to the blaze at Dean Court in Cumnor at about 4pm yesterday.
Fire crews were met with a large blaze at the side of the building, with smoke and flames coming out of the single storey roof and garage.
They tackled the blaze using teams wearing breathing apparatus and high pressure hose reel water jets.
Other firefighters went into the property to search and make sure everyone was safely out of the building as the fire was spreading rapidly to the kitchen.
No one suffered any injuries and firefighters said the fire was extinguished quickly and caused minimal damage to the property.
Watch Manager Bob Paterson said: “Our initial call was to a shed fire, called in by one of the neighbours.
"This got out of control very quickly and it had quickly spread to the adjacent garage and loft space. Due to the prompt actions of the crews from Rewley Road Fire Station, the spread of the fire was halted at the garage and only caused smoke damage to the ground floor of the property.
"Thankfully nobody was at home at the time of the fire but the family would have been alerted as they had working smoke alarms fitted."
Thames Valley Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
