SO I hear that the police are going ahead to pay most of the cost with the county council to put the speed cameras back on in April. So far as I can see it’s for one purpose only – the amount of revenue it generates.
When you think about it, the police have had to cut back on funding and have to cut back on staff, and yet there is still money to put towards getting the speed cameras on again.
There has been no proof that there are fewer accidents with the cameras on, compared with when they are off, so how can they justify putting them on again?
Swindon’s cameras have been off a couple of years now. So what’s the big difference between Oxfordshire and Swindon? Well, it seems Oxfordshire can’t sting you enough for your hard-earned cash.
Swindon said the cost was too high to run the cameras. Funny how the police and council here don’t think so. I don’t know how they sleep at night.
