A FOOTBALL-mad schoolboy came face to face with his hero after offering to help a good cause.
Daniel House, 11, decided to go to school as Oxford United winger Alfie Potter when pupils were asked to pay to dress up as their heroes for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
And to say thank you, the footballer personally delivered an Oxford United shirt to him at home in Kestrel Way, Bicester, yesterday.
The Langford Village Primary School pupil said: “It was really exciting. I go to pretty much every game.”
Mum Laura said: “Daniel was really excited about it. We got a letter home saying that the children have to dress up and Daniel instinctively said ‘I’m going as Alfie Potter’.
“He’s been going to watch Oxford since he was a couple of weeks old.”
The star and Daniel chatted about United’s promotion play-off win at Wembley last year.
Mr Potter said: “When I heard Daniel wanted to be me for the day as his hero for Comic Relief I was really touched, so I thought I would drop him off one of my shirts at his house.
“Let’s hope he and his friends raise a lot of money for Comic Relief.”
