TWO cars were crushed by a falling Cotswold stone wall in Bampton.
The toppled stone damaged a Saab estate and a Ford Mondeo parked alongside the wall, in Church View, on Friday.
It is thought that a combination changeable recent weather and last week’s high winds could have led to the collapse.
Keen photographer Sarah Edwards, of Station Road, Brize Norton, took pictures of the aftermath on Saturday.
She said: “It seems the recent frosts damaged the wall and the high wind on Thursday appears to have caused it to collapse, although we don’t know exactly what happened with quite dramatic consequences.”
She added: “Obviously it’s not unusual for a dry-stone wall to come down but it’s unusual for one so big to collapse.”
No-one was injured. Police cordoned off the area until the cars and stone could be removed.
