THE partner of a man stopped at Heathrow in a bomb scare was yesterday being quizzed by police.
Officers stopped passengers at both Heathrow Terminal Five and at Oxford Rail Station on Thursday after a 999 call that said a 72-year-old man had a bomb and planned to “blow something up”.
The terminal was closed for more than an hour, with passengers evacuated from part of the building as armed police searched for a suspect.
Police were swarming over Oxford Rail Station at the same time because it was believed “the bomber” was going to the airport from the city.
Passengers approaching the station were searched and a helicopter and sniffer dog were deployed by police.
Eventually police stopped the 72-year-old at the airport but he did not have any device.
Yesterday, a man understood to be in a civil partnership with the pensioner was arrested by police in Oxford.
Thames Valley Police spokesman Chris Kearney said: “A man in his 30s was arrested in Oxford in connection with the hoax threat at Oxford Railway Station.
“The incident is connected with the evacuation of Terminal Five.”
He was still being held by police yesterday afternoon.
Train services around Oxford were not affected during the scare.
