Oxfordshire FA Futsal Spring League has launched in front of the BBC cameras at the brand new arena on the Oxford Academy campus, Littlemore, Oxford. Kicking off on Sunday 13th March 2011, the new league will see 10 teams competing to finish as the inaugural Champions which will then qualify them to compete in the FA Futsal Cup and possibly qualify for the European Cup against the best of Europe.
The league organisers will also be running a mens summer futsal league as well as starting an Oxfordshires ladies futsal league this year.
League organiser, Chris Chesterman of the Oxfordshire School of Futsal was delighted with the interest in the new league and which provides firm evidence of the rapid growth of Futsal throughout the UK. He commented, "This is the first time I have met most of the guys but already it's obvious that many have played Futsal before and the technique and ability of some of the players is sure to prove healthy competition for those who are new to the game. It is great to see so many communities including Brazilian, Spanish and Libyan teams coming together to share in the enjoyment of playing futsal"
The teams are called Libyan Futsal, Oxford City Futsal, Boquerones Napolitanos, Vitoria Futsal, G.O.D, Oxford da Villa FC, Brasil United Futsal, Passlona, Nikamuk CF and OCVC Utd.
The Oxfordshire School of Futsal run regular coaching sessions for children and adults of both sexes and all age groups and abilities aswell as half term futsal camps.
