Nuffield Lounge have struggled all season at the foot of Section 2 in the Greene King ODDA Winter League, but they put all that behind them by notching their first victory of the season at home to Chequers A.
Dan Jones and Graham Newbold gave them a 2-0 lead, but an eighth straight defeat looked on the cards as Chequers stormed back to go 4-2 ahead.
However, the Nuffield recovered brilliantly and a 3-0 pairs success clinched a stunning 5-4 victory.
Kidlington Green Club’s fine 8-1 win over the visiting Three Horseshoes sees them sitting pretty at the top of the section, two points ahead of Cowley Workers, who defeated visitors George Bar 8-1.
Marsh Harrier A entertained Section 3 leaders Prince of Wales and victories from Tony Sawyer, Alan Hunter and Steve James, plus a 2-1 pairs verdict, gave them a 5-4 success.
Close on the heels of the leaders are the Democrats Club, whose 5-4 triumph over the visiting Blackbird Bar was their seventh win from eight games, Section 5 title challengers Vikings A were 7-2 winners at Cricketers Arms A.
Chris Myers hit a maximum for Cricketers, but Chris Pollard, Sean Pollard, Dave Faulkner and Kevin Masterson, plus a 2-1 pairs win, secured the points for Vikings.
Ladies Premier League leaders Florence Park Community Centre A go storming on, their latest victims being Team Berry, who were beaten 6-3.
Katie Moore gave Park the lead, the home side levelling when Phyl Young defeated Michelle Ewins.
The visitors then took control as Natalie Creed-Roberts, Carol Harwood, Clare Bywaters and Angie Pointin put them 5-1 clear before Team Berry gained some consolation in the pairs.
Premier outfit Blackbird Bar were given their first taste of defeat this season as they went down 5-4 to visiting Section 1 leaders Butchers Arms.
