A FOOTBALL club is appealing for help to find a temporary home after floods caused by a burst pipe left it with nowhere to play.
Berinsfield Football Club has been homeless since a pipe burst over the Christmas break and flooded the club pavilion.
It is believed work to repair the collapsed ceilings and damage caused by 3ft of water will cost thousands of pounds.
Now the club is appealing for help from neighbouring teams.
Club secretary Jackie Cullen said: “All our home games were cancelled in the run-up to Christmas because of the snow, so we didn’t look in the pavilion until between Christmas and New Year.
“A pipe must have burst because there was about 3ft of water. The ceilings had all fallen in.
“It is probably going to costs thousands of pounds to repair over the next few months.
“But it also means until then we are effectively homeless, for the next two months at least.”
The club, which carried out a community litter pick on Saturday as a way of thanking their sponsors, Berinsfield Community Business, has managed to rearrange some of its games so they can be played away, but it needs somewhere to play its home games.
Ms Cullen said: “We basically haven’t played any home games so it is not the best situation to be in.
“People have been very helpful at rescheduling fixtures.
“We have had an offer from a sports centre but it only had one changing room.
“We can’t fit 22 men and a referee in one changing room.
“We just want to know if any neighbouring clubs can help us out.”
