Ben (10) Out of this World
Skipper Ben Stewart hit four goals in an all action display as Kidlington blew away the cobwebs from a lengthy break in fine style.
The first game started off fairly even, with 6-man Grove having the better chances in the first few minutes and looking very competitive, but a great long range strike from Stewart and a cool finish from Callum Rolfe saw the visitors go in at half time with a 2-0 lead. Most of the damage was done in the second half, with another 3 outstanding goals from Stewart, one from Rolfe and one from Ben Owen to leave the final score 7-0.
The second game followed much the same pattern as the first. Grove fielded a strong septet, who battled hard, and chances were few in the first half - the best of which was an excellent strike from Luca Sykes which forced a brilliant save from the home keeper. Half time came with the game still goalless. The visitors made their territorial advantage pay in the second half, with Sykes netting a hat-trick. Special mention is due to Kidlington substitute Thomas Anderson, who in his short time on the pitch, scored a goal, had a back-heel cleared off the line, and set up Sykes for his third with a brilliant mazy run along the by-line. Kidlington played well defensively and finished the game 4-0, to make an aggregate score of 11-0 - their first clean sheet of the campaign.
