Labour candidate Duncan Enright won yesterday's by-election for one of four east ward seats on Witney Town Council.
He received 480 votes (66 per cent), beating Liberal Democrat Mark Balaam (123 votes) and Green Party candidate Kate Griffin (117 votes).
The Conservatives refused to take part in the poll, saying it was a waste of time and money because a full council election will have to be held in May.
Less than 13 per cent of the 5,700 electorate turned out to vote in Thursday’s poll.
