A woman has died in a house fire in Blackbird Leys.
Fire crews battled a blaze in Samphire Road at around 9.30pm last night.
One man was rescued from the ground floor and his wife from a first floor bedroom.
However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews returned to the building to put out the fire and prevent further damage to other parts of the building and to neighbouring properties.
Station Manager Gary D’Anger said: “This was a well developed bedroom fire presenting the fire crews with very difficult conditions in which to work.”
Neighbours were also evacuated from neighbouring homes.
Fire investigation officers together with Thames Valley Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
