Sir – An articulate Oxford Bus Company driver told me today that he does not issue tickets to people with over-60s passes, he only prints them.
Passengers should know that a ticket is no longer issued to them, and so in picking up a ticket a passenger such as myself is wilfully causing a ticket to be issued, and if it is to the wrong destination, that is the passenger’s own fault.
Also, where “touch your card here” is printed on the machine, we are not supposed to actually touch the card on the machine, only hold it in the air above the machine.
Touching the card on the machine causes it to malfunction, so that no ticket can be issued (sorry, printed) as required by the company. The display stating that something may be wrong with the card is incorrect.
