A post-mortem examination of an 82-year-old woman found on a canal towpath near Southam Road on Boxing Day has revealed freezing conditions may have been a factor in her death.
Thames Valley Police said the examination, carried out on Monday, showed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the pensioner’s death, but no cause of death could be determined.
Det Chief Insp Colin Paine said further tests would be carried out to determine an exact cause of death, but was likely she suffered from exposure to the cold weather after spending the night outside.
The woman's next of kin, who live abroad, have been informed of her death.
