A TEENAGER who clambered over segregation netting at an Oxford United game has been given a community order.

Ashley Creed dodged stewards in the North Stand at the Kassam Stadium as he made his way towards Aldershot fans shouting “****ing come and get it, you ****ers”, Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

He was then captured on police video outside the ground after the match on October 9 shouting at away supporters “we’re ****ing here, ain’t we? You ****ing bottlers”.

The 19-year-old, who according to his solicitor “follows Oxford United but is a Tottenham Hotspur fan”, earlier admitted two public-order offences.

The court heard Creed, of Cumnor Road, Wootton, has previous convictions for battery and a racially aggravated public-order offence.

But John Berry, defending, said his client was normally a “pleasant, polite and respectful young man” who had “had too much too drink on that particular afternoon”.

He added: “All his previous convictions relate to drink. It’s an issue he needs to address. He bitterly regrets his actions on this occasion.”

Mr Berry said Creed had been provoked by Aldershot fans who had smuggled alcohol into the stands and were gesturing at Oxford supporters in the North Stand.

Chairman of magistrates Patrick McCormick ordered Creed to carry out 150 hours’ unpaid work and adhere to a year’s supervision and a three-month 8pm to 6am curfew.

He was also told to pay £85 costs and given a three-year football banning order.

Mr McCormick said: “There’s no excuse for the disgusting behaviour you committed that day at Oxford United.”

The Oxford Mail reported yesterday how 12 men admitted public disorder offences following two games earlier this season.

Eight Oxford United fans were given banning orders totalling 24 years. The remaining four cannot go to games as part of bail conditions and will be sentenced in Feburary.
