THE Rail bridge at Redbridge, South Oxford, will be replaced tomorrow.
Network Rail engineers will start demolishing the existing bridge on Old Abingdon Road at midnight tonight and hope the new bridge will be in place by Boxing Day evening.
The bridge is being increased in height to allow new “high cube” shipping containers to be transported by rail from Southampton to the Midlands, as part of a £71m programme of bridge upgrades.
The road will remain closed to traffic until March.
