IT is the day before Christmas and we’ve saved the best present for police until last: Oxford’s most wanted man.

Rohan Crooks’ face appears behind the last window of our Badvent Calendar, a countdown to Christmas with a crime-fighting difference.

Every day this month we have unveiled the face of another suspect who police want to interrogate over crimes in the county.

We chose Rohan Crooks to feature this Christmas Eve as he has been wanted by police for attempted murder for more than two years.

No one has seen or heard from him since a hit and run in Cuddesdon Way, Blackbird Leys, on October 9 2008, leaving a cyclist fighting for his life.

Crooks was allegedly involved in a fight with the cyclist outside shops in Blackbird Leys Road at about 5.30pm. He claimed he had a knife but one was not seen, said police.

Shortly afterwards, the man was hit by a green Lexus, which failed to stop. He was dragged along under the car for about 40ft to the junction of Blackbird Leys Road and Cuddesdon Way.

The cyclist survived, but his injuries were so severe he was in hospital for a month and still walks with a limp.

Police believe Crooks was behind the wheel.

Officers believe the 5ft 8in 31-year-old has links to East London and Oxford and may have changed his haircut.

However, he has distinctive green eyes and is bow-legged.

Last night, acting Det Ch Insp Simon Morton said finding Crooks would be a great Christmas present for his team of detectives.

He said: “I believe someone in the area knows where he is.

“I would urge anyone with information to come forward, we need to hear from you.

“This is a very serious offence and he has evaded capture for a long time.”

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
