RESIDENTS of the Vale and South Oxfordshire are being reminded that waste collection dates are changing over Christmas.
Tags are being left on all bins in both districts in the run up to Christmas to let people know when their revised collections will be.
Anyone who is unsure whether recycling or rubbish is being collected should put both bins out and the right one will be emptied.
People can also sign up to get a free text message reminding them to put their bins out the night before their collection when it changes, due to bank holidays or bad weather. To register for this service people need to send a message with the word ‘waste’ and their collection day to 07797 870370 if they live in South Oxfordshire and 07797 870371 if they live in the Vale.
Residents are also being encouraged to recycle as much of their Christmas waste as possible. Christmas trees cannot be collected as part of the normal rubbish collection, but people who pay for a brown bin can put trees out next to it to be collected.
Trees can either be taken to a county council waste recycling centre, including those at Oakley Wood, Drayton, Stanford in the Vale and Redbridge, Oxford, or to garden centres during opening hours up to Saturday, January 15, including Root One at Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Chilton Garden Centre, and Millets Farm at Frilford.
For more information on Christmas waste and what can be disposed of, or changes to collections, see morerecycling.com or call 03000 610610.
