i had a little smile to myself as I read Chris Boswell’s suggestion that county council leader Keith Mitchell should be behind one of your Badvent Calender windows (Last Tuesday’s ViewPoints).
Seriously, though, I really do think it is time to put Mr Mitchell out to grass.
He seems to glorify in talking down to his subjects as he cuts and slashes all and sundry.
His comments about the students who infiltrated his ivory tower, suggesting ‘I know what sort of people they are and where they live’ intimates that he believes they were oiks from the council estates around Oxford.
A typical us and them Tory attitude. Under Mr Mitchell’s leadership, this city has lurched from one disaster to another.
Think Cornmarket, Frideswide Square and the Headington Hamburger.
Now I know the Hamburger is Mr Mitchell’s pride and joy, but I would ask why, if it is working so well, was the A4142 Eastern Bypass that leads up to it named the fourth most congested road in the whole UK recently?
And if our county council leader is worried about how to fill his days if he should stand down, I’m sure that he could volunteer to help out in his local library, that he is so desperate to close down.
