FAMILIES of asylum seekers were being given warm gloves yesterday, as snow returned to the county.

Oxford City of Sanctuary, a group promoting safety and inclusion to people seeking refuge in the city, donated 60 pairs to Asylum Welcome to celebrate International Migrants Day today.

The donation came as temperatures across the county looked set to plunge to -5C over the next few days.

OCS chairman Liz Peretz said: “Oxford City of Sanctuary are really delighted to able, on the day before International Migrants Day, to hand over gloves which we know will be of real use to people we want to extend a warm hand to.”

There was some snow in the county yesterday, and light snow is predicted tomorrow. Drivers have been urged to watch out for widespread icy patches.
