A TEACHER died in a road accident on his way to work after staying up until 2am to mark papers.
Bernd-Christian Lickfett, 43, who was a German teacher at the European School in Culham, died when his motorbike hit the back of a car and he was thrown into oncoming traffic, an inquest in Oxford heard yesterday.
The accident happened on the A415 near Culham at about 9am on Wednesday, June 16.
Mr Lickfett, of Sherwood Avenue, Abingdon, was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital but died of multiple injuries.
His partner of more than eight years, Ingo Fromm, said he had stayed up until 2am but did not seem tired in the morning.
He said: “He was an annoyingly cautious driver.”
Coroner Nicholas Gardiner, recording a verdict of accidental death, said: “He may have been a little late and he may have been a little tired but he was apparently in good health.
“I can only think he failed to see the stationary car in time to stop.”
