A regional press motoring writer has been named as the best in the UK at an annual awards ceremony.
David Duffy, who writes on motoring and motorsport for the Oxford Mail, The Oxford Times and other Newsquest Oxfordshire publications, has been chosen as the Guild of Motoring Writers' regional motoring journalist of the year.
He has been writing about motoring for more than 30 years and has previously received a special award from the Guild of Motoring Writers.
David, who is also deputy editor of The Oxford Times, was presented with the award at the guild's annual dinner at the RAC Club, in Pall Mall, London.
The Oxford Times editor Derek Holmes said: "This award is richly deserved. David is a true professional who will always go that extra mile - whether that be in testing the car or in the pursuit of quality journalism."
The ceremony was also attended by veteran racing driver Sir Stirling Moss, who was presented with a President's Trophy for his lifelong commitment to motorsport.
At the event, the guild said it had a duty to continue promoting motoring writing in the regional press at a time when some publications were switching to using advertiser-supplied material, taking articles from amateurs, or scrapping motoring editorial and writers completely.
