A BARMAN at an Oxford pub raped a woman at a birthday party, a court has heard.
Rogerio Coito denies two counts of raping the woman at the Priory pub, next to the Kassam Stadium, in January.
But Karen Maxwell-Burnside, prosecuting at Oxford Crown Court this week, told jurors the 22-year-old forced himself upon the woman in the pub toilets at about 1.30am.
She said the alleged victim had drunk alcopops, lager, peach schnapps and vodka and mixers, and was “effectively all over the place”.
Miss Maxwell-Burnside said: “Her recollection is patchy and she attributes that to the effects of excessive drinking.”
Coito, of The Oval, Rose Hill, admitted having sex with the woman in the toilets of the pub, but told police it was consensual.
Miss Maxwell-Burnside said the woman told officers: “I know something’s happened to me, not physically, but I know it up here (pointing to her head).”
Jurors heard Coito told arresting officers: “I ain’t done no rape.”
In his statement to police, Coito said the alleged victim kissed him when he went into the ladies’ toilet, pushed him into the cubicle and wanted sex.
The trial continues.
