A friend in Headington has told me that it is a waste of time trying to save Oxfordshire’s libraries.
I don’t like that sort of defeatism.
I believe that when something unacceptable happens, it is a duty to protest.
Anybody who does not is acquiescing in the choices of an incompetent government.
Of course, if people had slightly more intelligence, they might make a connection between the “cuts” and the fact that we are paying £45m per day to the European Union.
But what is needed right here and now is a united cross-party protest so big that even Keith Mitchell cannot ignore it.
There are other ways of balancing our budget and we must insist on implementing them.
I have set up two petitions on the Oxfordshire County Council website, the latest called Save All Oxford’s Libraries. Please everybody sign it. If 5,000 sign the council will have to listen.
