A jury in the retrial of a man originally cleared of murdering a mother-of-two in Oxfordshire in 1995 has been sent out to consider its verdict.
Mark Weston, 35, is accused of battering Vikki Thompson near her home in the small Cotswold village of Ascott-under-Wychwood.
Vikki, 30, was found bludgeoned near a railway line after her dog returned home alone from a country walk. She died in hospital six days after the attack.
Prosecutor John Price told the jury that the defendant first went on trial for Vikki's murder at Oxford Crown Court in 1996 and was found not guilty.
