SCHOOLCHILDREN swapped desks and pens for murder scenes and forensic equipment at a behind-the-scenes look at life as a bobby.
Pupils from Marlborough School in Woodstock, Gosford Hill School in Kidlington, and Wood Green in Witney, spent last week on work experience at Thames Valley Police’s Kidlington headquarters.
They learned how to investigate a murder, met the specialist search and recovery teams, and learned how police handle and use firearms.
The teenagers also met the police dogs, visited crown and magistrates’ courts, and found out how police investigate road crashes.
Tracy Dimond, senior human resources advisor, said: “We had about half a dozen that might join the force in the future.
“We are looking for so many Special Constables that even in these times of cuts they can get a foot in the door.”
“Thames Valley Police has to reduce some of the roles, nevertheless there will always be a need for bright enthusiastic staff and officers who know the community well.”
