GEOFF Morris again peddles the myth that the last New Labour Government is to blame for the recession and the austerity measures this nasty Con/Dem Government is putting on the general public. (ViewPoints, December 1) I think it is pretty much accepted by most people, obviously not Geoff Morris, that the bankers caused this misery. Your beloved Mrs Thatcher deregulated the banks and building societies back in the 1980s. That helped!
The facts are plain for all to see as the bankers award themselves billions in bonuses, despite public outrage, with more soon to come, believe me.
The public sector is financed by workers who pay tax, providing goods and services for the good of society.
Have any of these nasty Tories used the NHS, full of ‘non-jobs’. Will they then want to get rid of doctors and nurses, then teachers, then all public sector workers?
These services were set up by real Socialists, NOT New Labour, when this country faced a bigger deficit than today, just after the Second World War.
Another fact working class Tory voters should get used to is that the Tories always cut public services, always have done, always will do. That will leave ordinary working people, including Tory voters, to mop up the mess.
The sooner the public accept that the vast majority of politicians from the main parties are in it for personal gain, the sooner we can move on and have a reasonable debate.
And to talk of major economies of the world ridding public sector jobs, does that include China? They seem to be doing pretty well. I think their system is reffered to as State capitalism.
