Police are appealing for information after a burglary in Carterton.
Burglars used a spade from the shed of a property in The Crescent to break into the house some time between 9am on December 2 and 4pm on Monday.
Using the spade, burglars smashed the glass panel of the back door of the property, and stole jewellery from the house.
The jewellery was later found discarded in Bradwell Grove.
Det Sgt Dick White said: “I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.
“I would also like to remind people of the need to ensure that sheds and outbuildings are kept secure at all times. Thieves can use items found inside your shed to gain entry to your home, as we have seen in this case. Don’t make it easy for them.”
Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Sgt White via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
