Sir – As a local resident worried about the impact of humankind on the environment, I went to Redbridge Recycling Centre this afternoon in the hope that I might, in my small way, contribute to making Oxford a greener place.
Once I had arrived and deposited a few household items into the bins, I was politely asked by one of the staff to leave the premises. The reason? I was a pedestrian and only cars are allowed.
Is this an example of the council giving to the environment with one hand and taking from it with the other?
Dr Christopher Guyver, Oxford
