Sir – I have read with interest the letters you have recently published regarding the works carried out in Beechcroft Road.
I would love to reclaim my street, initially with some carpet and a few road closed signs, following the excellent example of some Beechcroft Road residents.
However, it is likely the highways department would take a dim view to my closing Sunderland Avenue, so my family and I will continue to treat all roads, furnished or not, with great care. In the meantime, reclaiming the pavement outside our house would be a start.
Perhaps cyclists using the shared pavement heading south on to the Banbury Road, could use a little common sense before racing around the blind bend.
As we awake to find yet another vehicle has failed to negotiate the Banbury Road roundabout, rather crossed the pavement and ploughed through a fence, coming to rest some ten metres from the road, maybe now is the time to ensure the safety of thousands of pedestrians and cyclist using this route, by erecting a crash barrier as seen on the opposite side of the road.
