One of theatre’s most renowned shows has started a week-long run in Oxford.
The Sound of Music started at the New Theatre yesterday and star Connie Fisher was there to give out some early Christmas presents to local schoolchildren to mark the launch.
Ms Fisher — best known for winning BBC One talent contest How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? — is reprising her role as Maria von Trapp.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein show has provided one of the most recognisable scores in theatre history, with songs including My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi and the eponymous The Sound of Music.
Ms Fisher, 27, started her role in London’s West End in November 2006.
The show runs at the George Street theatre until next Wednesday.
