THIS week’s Oxford Mail Face in the Crowd winner scooped the jackpot on a trip to Oxford United’s match with the family at the weekend.
Bob Perry, 63, from Begbroke, was at Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Barnet with nine other members of his family.
Our cameras spotted him out of the thousands of supporters and he won the £75 prize.
He said: “There were 10 of us that went to the game, as we’re originally from Barnet, but changed allegiance when we moved here. So, when they played each other, lots of the family came over to watch.”
Mr Perry, a retired civil servant, found out about the win when son-in-law Neil Dickson rang to say he had “some good news and some bad news”.
He said: “Neil said the good news was that I had won £75, but the bad news was I was going to have to go and collect it.
“It was a really nice surprise, as apart from a few £10 Lottery wins, I’ve never won anything like this before.”
It seems Mr Perry won’t be the one to decide how to spend the money, as he said: “You’ll have to ask the wife about that one.”
Wife Barbara said she would be spending the money on Christmas and more presents for their two grandchildren, Ben and Emma.
We are giving away £75 to our Face In The Crowd winner from every one of United’s League Two home matches this season. Those pictured have to visit our offices in Osney Mead within two days of publication to claim the cash.
