An 18-year-old’s dream of becoming a glamour model may soon become a reality.
Laura-Louise Griffiths, from Witney, has entered The Sun newspaper’s Page 3 Idol competition, and this week she will find out if she has made it to the final.
She has already passed through the first stage of the competition, beating hundreds of entrants in The Sun’s online poll.
With the backing of mum and dad she is now hoping to enter the world of glamour modelling.
The newspaper will now whittle down the entrants to the final 20, who will each appear on the newspaper’s famous page.
Readers will then be able to vote on their favourite model, with the winner crowned Page 3 Idol 2010.
Miss Griffiths first did hair modelling when she was 15, but has since turned to glamour modelling.
She said: “Glamour modelling is so much more fun than fashion modelling. The shoots are more quirky, and it boosts your confidence as well.
“When I turned 18 I wanted to shoot with The Sun because of how professional they are and how so many top models work with them.
“It’s every glamour model’s dream to work with them, but I didn’t think it would happen so soon.”
The former Henry Box School student did her first glamour shoot a week after she turned 18, and it was her photographer who first suggested she entered the competition.
The Colwell Drive resident said part of the reason she agreed was to prove to friends that she could be a model.
She said: “I was put down a lot in school and people doubted me, but I’ve proved myself now.
“I’ve proved anyone can do it, it’s the best feeling in the world.”
Miss Griffiths said she hoped she could now make a career out of the profession, and hoped to work for lad’s mags like Zoo and Nuts.
And she also wants to train as a vet.
She said: “I understand that glamour modelling isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
“But people should just accept what people want to do, regardless of what it is.
“And this is my dream.”
Parents Aneefa, 38, and Duane, 41, support her.
Mrs Griffiths said: “We’re very, very proud. It’s really boosted her confidence and now she’s just more happy in life. Her dad and I are going to support her all the way.”
The 2004 winner, Keeley Hazell, has gone on to be one of the country’s top glamour models.
